There has been industrial mining in Garpenbrg since the Middle Ages, but copper mining began here as early as 375 BC. Iron, copper and silver have been mined here through the ages, and in recent years, zinc and gold as well. The Garpenberg mines are still crucial to the country’s metal industry.
