Sustainability in focus

In Avesta, we’re building new bicycle paths, putting solar panels in our schools and creating species-rich deciduous forests. We work to ensure that all of us who live here are happy, involved and feel that we are needed. We do this because we want everyone to have good lives both now and in the future. Our choices here and now should not ruin things for people in the next generation or in other parts of the world. This is why we are also a Fairtrade City and an Eco-Municipality.

 

Biosphere Municipality

In the area around Nedre Dalälven, lots of collaborations have emerged between associations, individuals, companies and public agencies. This cooperation helps ensure that developments can be sustainable for people, organizations, companies, the economy, and most of all, for our amazing natural environment. Taking care of our nature is essential and at the heart of everything we do. This is why we in Avesta are proud and pleased to be one of the municipalities in the Nedre Dalälven Biosphere Reserve.
